Totem's Studio

Less than a year after rebranding our practice, Totem Studio (formerly Trengrove Architects) relocated into a brand new fit out, within a building that itself has a lot of history.

Some of the stories we have heard of our new location at 382 Montreal street, range from a place to buy a good bathing suits or a clients engagement ring to stories of it as a car workshop or electronics store. Very appropriate for the home of a modern and diverse design practice with going on 100 years of history behind it.

Now two vivid and rich histories come together with the fit out of a contemporary architectural studio. Birch ply, and black Tex-ply clad our partitions with expressed negative detailing to striking effect. The existing polished concrete aggregate and beautiful raw timbers with industrial steel portals and historic steel ring beam play off the careful detailing and lattice work of our new studio.

We are delighted with our new home and to make our own distinct architectural contribution to the history of this building and our practice.
